Tottenham Ready To Abandon Olympic Stadium Bid

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club are today on the verge of abandoning their bid to acquire the London Olympic Stadium after the Games finish in 2012.

Tottenham FC have been locked in a legal battle with the Olympic Park Legacy Company’s (OPLC) after their decision to hand the £486 million stadium to rivals West Ham United after the close of the Olympics.

The club was due in the High Court today, Wednesday 24 August, seeking a judicial review over OPLC’s agreement to give the stadium to West Ham.

However late yesterday evening, Tuesday 23 August, Tottenham officials were involved in “intense negotiations” with the London mayor, Boris Johnson, over plans to build a brand new stadium for Tottenham close to where their current stadium is located.

“If these negotiations are concluded successfully as expected, the appeal will be dropped,” a senior government source has relieved.

What do you think? Are you a Tottenham fan who thinks the Olympic stadium should be acquired by the club or maybe you’re a West Ham fan who doesn’t want to move into the Olympic stadium? Let me know!
